The 68th Independence Anniversary Celebration.

The Municipal Planning Committee, comprising 11 members, met three times in preparation for the 68th Independence Anniversary Celebration.

The 68th Independence Anniversary celebration was held on Thursday, 6th March 2025, at the Collins Senior High School Park in Agogo, featuring a march-past ceremony. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including:

 

  • The Member of Parliament: Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong

  • The Municipal Coordinating Director: Asamoah Damoah

  • The Presiding Member: Hon. Frank Gyamfi

  • Representatives from Traditional Councils

  • Representatives from the Local Council of Churches

  • Representatives from the Muslim Community

  • Heads of Departments, Units, and Institutions

  • Company Representatives

  • Teachers

  • Assembly Members

  • Assembly Staff

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

As part of the 68th Independence Anniversary celebrations, a series of activities were carried out to ensure the success and inclusivity of the event. These included:

  1. Clean-Up Exercise
    A community clean-up exercise was held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, bringing together staff from the Ghana Education Service, the Municipal Assembly, and students from Collins Senior High School. The exercise aimed to prepare the celebration venue and promote environmental hygiene.

  2. Publicity and Awareness Campaign
    Extensive publicity efforts were undertaken to keep stakeholders informed and involved in the celebration. Information about the anniversary activities was shared through various communication channels:

    • Local radio stations

    • Written letters to key stakeholders

    • Social media platforms

  3. March-Past Ceremony
    The highlight of the celebration was a grand march-past event, which saw active participation from 30 institutions and groups. These included:

    • 25 Basic Schools (Primary and Junior High Schools)

    • Combined School Cadet Contingent, comprising:

      • Oweriman Senior High School

      • Agogo State College

      • Collins Senior High School

    • Hairdressers Association

    • Dressmakers Association

MARCH-PAST AWARDS

 

The March-Past awards were presented under a single category to recognize outstanding performances by participating Primary and Junior High Schools. Awards were distributed as follows:

Special Awards

  • Best Female BECE Student from a hinterland community was awarded a laptop, donated by Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong, Member of Parliament.

  • Overall Best BECE Student also received a laptop, presented by Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong.
