On 13th January, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Sarah Amoakoaa, together with the Member of Parliament, Hon. O.K. Frimpong, officially cut the sod and handed over Phases 1 and 2 of the Big Push Road Project. The event was well attended by Nananom, Honourable Assembly Members, Heads of Departments (HODs), staff of the Municipal Assembly, and the general populace of Asante Akim.
Phase One of the project covers the road stretch from Agogo to Moose Panin, while Phase Two extends from Moose Panin to Maame Krobo in the Eastern Region. The project is expected to significantly improve road connectivity, reduce travel time, enhance safety, and facilitate the efficient movement of people, goods, and services between the affected communities.
This initiative forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s “Big Push” Agenda, a strategic infrastructure development programme aimed at accelerating national growth through large-scale investments in critical sectors, particularly road infrastructure. The agenda seeks to open up deprived yet productive areas, boost local economies, support agriculture and trade, create employment opportunities, and promote inclusive development across the country.
The commencement and handover of these road projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to translating national development policies into tangible infrastructure that directly improves livelihoods and enhances socio-economic development at the local level.
