Hon. Sarah Amoakoaa Leads Sanitation Day Clean-Up in Agogo.

As part of President John Dramani Mahama’s renewed national campaign against poor sanitation, Hon. Sarah Amoakoaa, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akim North, led a successful Sanitation Day exercise on Wednesday, 9th July 2025.

The clean-up, which took place along the principal streets of Agogo, saw the active participation of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Environmental Health Officers, and several staff of the Assembly. Armed with tools and protective gear, the team swept, collected waste, and desilted drains, demonstrating the renewed commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment at the local level.

The exercise aligns with President Mahama’s recent declaration that sanitation will now serve as a key performance indicator (KPI) for all District Chief Executives (DCEs) under the next NDC administration. He has emphasized that sanitation is not just a ceremonial activity, but a critical development issue linked to public health, productivity, and national pride.

With the revival of the National Sanitation Day—now scheduled for every first Saturday of the month and backed by law and direct budgetary support—local government leaders like Hon. Sarah Amoakoaa are expected to spearhead monthly clean-up operations in their jurisdictions. The President has made it clear: DCEs who fail to ensure cleanliness in their districts risk losing their positions.

Hon. Amoakoaa’s leadership in this month’s clean-up exercise signals the Assembly’s proactive stance in fulfilling this national mandate and promoting civic responsibility among residents of Asante Akim North.
