Sanitation Exercise Held on Saturday, 27th June 2026
On Saturday, 27th June 2026, a vigorous sanitation exercise was carried out across the Asante Akim North Municipality as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and public health. The exercise was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), personnel from the various security services, staff of the Assembly, students, and members of the general public within the Asante Akim North Municipality.
The exercise commenced in the early hours of the day, with participants deployed to key locations across the municipality, including principal streets, markets, lorry stations, and other public spaces. Activities undertaken included sweeping, the collection and disposal of solid waste, desilting of choked drains, clearing of weeds, and the removal of refuse from unauthorized dumping sites. These efforts were aimed at improving environmental sanitation, preventing flooding, and reducing the risk of sanitation-related diseases.
There was strong collaboration and coordination among all stakeholders, with security personnel maintaining order and ensuring the safety of participants, while Assembly staff supervised and coordinated activities throughout the exercise. Students and community members also demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm and commitment, contributing significantly to the success of the clean-up exercise.
The sanitation exercise was highly successful, resulting in a visibly cleaner environment and reinforcing public awareness of the importance of maintaining good sanitation practices. The Municipal authorities used the opportunity to educate residents on proper waste disposal methods and encouraged them to sustain regular clean-up activities within their communities.
The Municipal Chief Executive commended all participants for their dedication and active participation, urging residents to make environmental sanitation a continuous civic responsibility rather than a periodic activity. The exercise reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to creating and maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all residents of the municipality.
