On Thursday, 30th October, the Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Sarah Amoakoa, organized a special event to honour persons with disabilities within the municipality. The ceremony saw the distribution of a wide range of startup items, including sewing machines, deep freezers, wheelchairs, and other essential equipment, aimed at helping the beneficiaries establish their own small businesses and become economically independent.

The initiative, inspired by the vision of former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), aligns with his long-standing commitment to promoting inclusiveness, social justice, and equal opportunities for all, especially persons with disabilities. It also forms part of the broader national agenda to ensure that no one is left behind in the country’s development process.

Hon. Sarah Amoakoa commended the beneficiaries for their determination and encouraged them to make good use of the support to transform their lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities. She further emphasized that the assembly, under the guidance of government policy, will continue to implement programs that empower vulnerable groups and strengthen the social welfare system for sustainable development.
