On Friday, 5th December 2025, the
Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly, led by the Hon. MCE Sarah Amoakoaa,
together with the Member of Parliament, Hon. O.K. Frimpong, the Agric
Department, and other key stakeholders, celebrated Farmers’ Day to honour
hardworking farmers within the municipality. The event was held at Afrisere,
one of the vibrant farming communities in Asante Akim North.
This year’s award categories
included:
- Municipal Best Watermelon Farmer
- Municipal Best Aquaculture Farmer
- Municipal Best Rice Farmer
- Municipal Best Onion Farmer
- Municipal Best Tomato Farmer
- Municipal Best Faith-Based Organization in Practical
Agriculture
- Municipal Best Primary School in Practical Agriculture
- Municipal Best Junior High School in Practical
Agriculture
- Municipal Best Senior High School in Practical
Agriculture
- Municipal Best Agric Staff
- Municipal Runner-Up (2nd Best Farmer).
The Overall Best Farmer for Asante
Akim North was Mr. Isaac Owusu from Bebome. As part of his prize package, he
received an Aboboyaa, Refrigerators,a 32-inch television, spraying
machines, pieces of cloth, cutlasses, farming boots, and other essential
farming items.
All other awardees also received
prizes such as televisions, spraying machines, cutlasses, farming boots, and
various agricultural tools to support their work.
