On Wednesday, 12th November 2025, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Sarah Amoakoa, led a strong and diverse team to undertake a major clean-up exercise within the Agogo township. The activity brought together several key institutions and members of the public, demonstrating the shared commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and public health in the Asante Akim North Municipality.

The team was made up of personnel from the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Police Service, and the Ghana National Fire Service, who all participated actively in the exercise. Traditional leaders, known collectively as Nananom, were also present to lend their support and ensure community involvement. Representatives of the Assembly Members, staff of the Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly (AANMA), students from various schools, and members of the general community of Agogo equally took part. This wide representation showed that environmental cleanliness is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of all stakeholders.

The clean-up exercise formed part of the broader national vision of the President of the Republic of Ghana, aimed at ensuring that communities remain clean, healthy, and environmentally safe. Over the years, the Government of Ghana has emphasized the importance of sanitation as a key driver of public health, economic development, and quality of life. The president’s vision highlights the need for regular community clean-ups, proper waste disposal, and the promotion of responsible environmental behaviour.

Hon. Sarah Amoakoa, known affectionately as a mother to the municipality, has consistently demonstrated strong leadership in championing sanitation-related activities. Her presence at the forefront of the exercise reflected her deep sense of responsibility and dedication to ensuring that every corner of the municipality is kept clean. As the MCE, she recognizes that sanitation is not only an administrative duty but also a moral obligation to protect the wellbeing of residents.

Throughout the exercise, participants swept streets, desilted gutters, weeded public places, and collected heaps of refuse that had accumulated in various parts of the township. The involvement of students also served as an important educational opportunity, teaching young people the need to maintain good sanitary practices and take pride in their environment.

In conclusion, the clean-up exercise at Agogo on 12th November 2012 was a powerful demonstration of unity, civic responsibility, and leadership. It reinforced the president’s national vision for a cleaner Ghana and highlighted the MCE’s commitment to ensuring that the municipality remains a clean, healthy, and pleasant place for all.
