Two-Day Orientation and Capacity-Building Workshop for Hon. Assembly Members.
A two-day orientation and capacity-building workshop was organized by the Ministry of Local Government for Hon. Assembly Members to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively perform their duties and responsibilities.
The workshop focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of the roles and functions of Assembly Members within the local governance system. Facilitators delivered presentations on the legal and administrative framework governing local government, the responsibilities of Assembly Members, committee work, community representation, legislative functions, and ethical standards in public service.
Participants also received training on effective leadership, stakeholder engagement, development planning, budgeting, monitoring of Assembly projects, and strategies for addressing the needs and concerns of their electoral areas. Interactive sessions provided opportunities for Assembly Members to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss practical approaches to improving service delivery.
The workshop was aimed at strengthening the capacity of Hon. Assembly Members to carry out their day-to-day responsibilities efficiently, promote accountability and transparency, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of their communities and the municipality as a whole.
