On 24th April 2026, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) led a taskforce to embark on an exercise to remove signposts, including funeral announcements and other forms of advertisement, that had been indiscriminately mounted on road pavements and along major streets within the municipality.
The exercise formed part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and enhance road safety across the Asante Akim North Municipality. Many of these signposts had been placed without authorization, obstructing drivers’ visibility at critical points such as intersections and bends, thereby posing a significant risk to both motorists and pedestrians.
In addition to the safety concerns, the proliferation of these signposts had contributed to the untidy appearance of the municipality, undermining ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and orderly environment. The taskforce therefore undertook a systematic removal of the structures to restore visibility, improve aesthetics, and promote compliance with local regulations on outdoor advertising and public space usage.
The Municipal Coordinating Director emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining the exercise and cautioned the public against mounting unauthorized signposts on pavements and other public spaces. Residents and stakeholders were encouraged to adhere to approved guidelines in order to support the Assembly’s drive towards improved sanitation, safety, and urban orderliness.
